Kasparov deserves more of our attention. He is a dissident in Russia and that requires courage. News outlets like the Hindu should give more voice to Russian dissidents, I am really inclined to brand “The Hindu” as “Leftist". It appears to lose objectivity the moment the United States Of America comes into the picture.

Mr. Kasparov's commitment to democratic liberty in Russia and in its former republics has been unstinting. At that September 1991 lunch, Mr. Kasparov proposed an idea then anathema to elite thinking in Washington and the capitals of Western Europe: The West should announce support for the independence of the former Soviet republics--the Baltics, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and the rest.
One suspects that Vladimir Putin noticed what the young chess champion was saying in 1991 about the old Soviet empire. The Russian president has famously said, "The demise of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century."

An excellent article which critiques the prevalent paranoia about global warming. I am all for a healthy dose of skepticism about the consequences of “Global Warming”
This article is a good take on the war in general and Iraq war in particlular. It is easy to loseyour perspective by simply listening to the mainstream media. Ravi Zacharias, not surprisingly does a good job here.
I find myself quite interested in the American conservative movement. Conservatism makes a lot of sense in America since if any country has something valuable to conserve it is America.
An article describing the basic principles of the conservative movement is available at American Thinker

ICC Twenty20 World Cup Semifinal- Kingsmead
India clinch a thriller here. India won the toss and elected to bat. It was a slow start by Twenty20 standards but a quality Inning by Yuvraj(70 from 30 balls) ensured that Australia had a stiff task. Australians responded like the champions they are but the target proved too stiff in the end inspite of fine knocks by Hayden and Symonds.
The scores:
India - 188/5 in 20 overs
Australia - 173/7 in 20 overs
